However, I enjoyed this book so much that I am hungry for not only those books of Elliot's I have never opened but also "Middlemarch", which I read years ago. On her journey to see them, she makes a new friend and learns just how brave she really is. Palmer has mastered his genre. The author also chose the right parts of the story to omit (some of the backstory and political asides) while preserving much of the archaic flavor.
